It was voted UK Council of the Year in 2006 and in 2007 became the first Unitary Council in the country to achieve a Council Wide Charter Mark. In June 2007 Education and Cultural Services received a glowing endorsement from Her Majesty's Inspectors of Education in one of the best reports ever for an Education Service.
